Tablet Presentation

Each Gastro- Resistant tablet contains:
Sulfasalazine IP 500 mg

Sulfasalazine is an anti-inflammatory drug i.e. by it is used to treat inflammatory bowel disease
It also belongs to the class of disease modifying anti-rheumatoid drug
It is used to treat inflammation, pain and swelling in the joints.

Indications & Usage

• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Ulcerative colitis
• Inflammatory Bowel disease
• Psoriatic arthritis

Mechanism of Action

Sulfasalazine shows its action by breaking down into 5-amino salicylic acid and sulfapyridine. The action of sulfasalazine resides on 5amino salicylic acid moiety.

Pharmacokinetics

It is metabolized to 5-ASA and accumulates in the colon
It is excreted via feces and urine

Side Effects

• Diarrhoea
• Stomach pain
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Rashes
• Feeling sick

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in Asthma
• Contraindicated in liver disorders

Precautions

Stop taking it if you may suffer from Allergy or joint pain
